»This presentation reports on findings from a systematic review of campus sexual assault prevalence rates in the United States. A comprehensive review of peer-reviewed research articles, reports and grey literature was conducted. Over 100 pieces published since 2000 were reviewed and vetted to evaluate prevalence data reported on sexual assault and unwanted sexual contact on university and college campuses. Overall, prevalence rates of campus sexual assault vary across studies, which appears to be based on the definition of sexual victimization used (e.g. forcible rape, attempted rape, sexual coercion, and drug and alcohol-facilitated rape). Strengths and limitations of the studies' research designs, methodologies, and sampling techniques, as well as challenges to measuring campus sexual assault will be discussed. Implications for future research and practice in this area will also be discussed.«
